Hyper-referentiality is the ultimate expression of “girlness”, but the production of “girl” as cultural code diffuses the “girl” to an infinite dispersion of ideas. The ensuing search for meaning, leaves the once “girl” in an endless twirl. Sweetest Girl in the World presents a site-specific painting exploring the grief embedded in “girlness”, aging, paint, and skin.
