Opening Reception: Friday, September 11th, 7–10 PM

Scission, referring to the act of dividing a thing or a group into separate parts, becomes a framework for formal structures such as electrical transmission towers, and power lines that extend endlessly forward, diverging and creating a constant line of movement. Through an uncertainty to definitively pinpoint what may be happening, this unstable process of becoming with no visible end point is navigated through a flow of information and movement, where the self is often in a state of being cut, split and continually reconstructed. Overlays of wires and theological sculptures serve as a mediation onto the blindness that occurs through resolving what it means to progress and construct and deconstruct oneself. My paintings turn this into a meditative process, attempting to slow down and escape a constant movement.
