Eileen Gray was a pivotal figure in twentieth-century design, bridging Art Deco and the International Style. Eileen Gray on the Beach recreates two of her best-known furniture designs at the threshold between gallery and street.

These sculptures occupy an indeterminate territory between art, craft, design, and engineering. Collected objects stand in for the artist, set within functional enclosures made from industrial materials. Staged in a former shop window, now the public face of an artist-run centre, the work considers how an object’s history and value shift with its surroundings.
