Trinity Square Video’s Themed Commission Program Call for Submissions: ONE-D, Toronto ON
Trinity Square Video announces a Call for Submissions to ONE-D, the first of TSV’s Themed Commission trilogy, ONE-D, TWO-D, THREE-D. This first of the commissioning series asks artists to expand the single channel experience into one that incorporates performance. ONE-D is an opportunity for artists to create short video/performance work that challenges the conventions of spectatorship, the viewing space and the audience. ONE-D explores a participatory and performative cinema beyond the projected image.
For ONE-D, TSV is seeking proposals for the creation of 5-10 minute work that expands the single channel experience to include performance. The videomaker as performer [or performer(s) under the guidance of the videomaker] will engage with the projected image and the audience to create a dynamic experience that can include monologue, dance, movement and other performance strategies.
Submissions will be reviewed by the TSV Programming Committee who will make selections based on the proposed project’s intended exploration, examination, experimentation and expansion of video as an art medium.
This is a commission for the production of video art. TSV is seeking submissions that propose to explore issues related to current contemporary art practices. These works can be critical, humorously self-effacing, political and/or experimental in their analysis and construction.
All Greater Toronto Area emerging, mid-career and established performers, visual artists, video artists, media artists and filmmakers are welcome to submit proposals to ONE-D. Proposals from those living outside Toronto and surrounding area must ensure that the artist will attend all ONE-D related activities at their own expense.
Proposals must include an application form available at www.trinitysquarevideo.com.
