Since its inception in 2001, InterAccess has organized an annual Emerging Artists Exhibition to showcase new media artworks produced by post-secondary students and recent graduates. Curated and organized by a selected emerging curator (or curators), this initiative offers young artists experience and exposure and aims to provide a productive space for the critical exchange of ideas among emerging arts professionals. Past exhibitions have been reviewed by The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and The National Post. Former participating artists and curators have gone on to work and exhibit at such institutions as the Doris McCarthy Gallery, University of Toronto, The Banff Centre, Western Front, Space Media Arts (London UK), FACT (Liverpool) and Transmediale (Berlin).

InterAccess is currently seeking submissions from emerging artists in Canada that employ electronic and new media technologies, materials, methods and ideas within their practice. They are accepting submissions from post-secondary students, recent graduates or independent practitioners who identify as emerging. InterAccess welcomes new media works in the form of: sculpture, installation, video, audio, performance and interactive art. Web-based projects are also welcome. All works submitted must be exhibition-ready. Based on the works selected, the emerging curators will develop an exhibition theme and produce a curatorial essay.

This year’s Emerging Artists Exhibition will be co-curated by Nancy Webb and Natasha Chaykowski.
