Taxes are particularly perplexing and stressful for artists, designers and independent creatives. By understanding the tax system and how it affects your practice, you’ll pay less taxes and avoid falling prey to erroneous information. Most visual artists and/or designers are considered self-employed when filing their taxes. In a legal sense this means that your business as a creative worker, and you as an individual taxpayer, are one and the same. Also, as an artist, there are a number of deductions that are unique to you!
Topics Covered:
– Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)
– Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP’S)
– Legal Entities
– Employment vs. Self-Employment
– Self-Employment Expenses
– Filing Requirements
– Record Keeping
✉️ RSVP: www.xpace.eventbrite.com ✉️
This workshop will be hosted on Zoom and the link will be emailed to registered participants 2 hours before the event.
*This workshop is popular and fills up fast, so if you can’t make it, please be considerate and cancel your ticket at least 24hrs prior the event. We know it’s a hectic time, but doing this helps us avoid empty spots by giving your ticket to someone on the waitlist who is also interested in attending. Thanks!
