Basil AlZeri considers the relationship between life and death under colonial regimes. Regardless if death comes in the form of direct murder, vital life resources are stolen, or flora and environments are destroyed, life is reduced to a state of mere survival. Figuring out how to live when living in the face of death becomes a complex, sophisticated and imaginative act. Living well, thriving, even flourishing, under these destructive conditions represents an extraordinary act of resistance.

The evolving installation features an ombré of curtains in a range of skin tones melding into a single wall of flesh. A small segment of the wall reveals an Inconspicuous scene of detritus, reflective of lives lived, which includes consumption, remains and eventual death.
