This day is exactly like yesterday, but without all of the excitement, or any event whatsoever is a compilation of videos of people having their picture taken, objects strewn in the streets in clear focus and close zoom, and candid, stolen shots of people living their lives, walking by or getting on a bus. Walinga created this collection of videos almost arbitrarily, as a personal joke, during a period of extreme anonymity and loneliness. Compiled and comedically highlighted with the audio narratives “who is this?” and “I don’t understand what this is”, the video becomes an objective account of isolation.
