As an act of empowerment, Chief Lady Bird films herself eating and enjoying various foods and posts them to her Instagram story. These “stories” have inspired many of her followers to tag her in and privately send her similar videos, stating that she has encouraged them to appreciate the act of eating and love themselves in the process. For Chief Lady Bird, the act of eating allows her to connect to her body and sexuality by de-stigmatizing eating as a plus-sized woman. In this photo series, Olivya Leblanc photographed Chief Lady Bird eating berries and pickerel while out on the land. Following the shoot they offered the remaining fish and berries to the ancestors.
