“behind the curtain” interrogates the overt and covert censorship that 2SLGBTQIA+ artists face through institutions, organizations or social media. Through text, video and installation, Beck G-Osborne, Maddie Alexander, Wren Tian-Morris and Dana Buzzee speak to instances of refusal by institutions and the vulnerabilities of sharing their embodied experiences. Accompanied by an online publication with writings by Adrienne Huard and Faith, the exhibition seeks to create an exchange about how many 2SLGBTQIA+ artists work are often deemed as not digestible for the ‘general public’.
