May 10th, 2014

1- 4pm at Xpace Cultural Centre

Free: RSVP to alicia@xpace.info

Xpace Cultural Centre has an upcoming Submissions deadline on May 24th, 2014. We will be programming for all four of our gallery spaces: Window, Main, Project and External Spaces (located on OCADU campus).

We will be holding a Proposal Workshop for help with the planning and writing of your project proposal. You can download a PDF application from our website here: www.xpace.info/submit

Bring in your project proposals (completed or partial) and we can give you feedback! It is also a great idea to check out the spaces themselves so you have a better idea of where your project would potentially work the best.

Toronto artist Brette Gabel will be joining the Xpace staff to talk about her experiences in applying to calls for submissions, putting out calls for submissions, and what she looks for in proposals.

The workshop is free and open to anyone, but please RSVP to alicia@xpace.info to reserve your spot.

Brette Gabel is an interdisciplinary artist who currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. Through the use of thread, fabric, drawing, sculpture and performance her work explores ‘weird feelings’. Gabel’s interest in the supernatural and horror movies are linked to a personal and autobiographical narrative. By connecting pop culture and the uncanny to her personal history Gabel’s work situates itself between feelings of comfort and discomfort or the banal and horrifying. Brette is currently an MFA candidate at OCAD University.
